Pre-K to 6th grade
Confirmation prepares individuals that are ready to make public affirmation of their Baptism, beliefs, and role in the life of the church.
Confirmation ensures that the student learns and understands key elements of the Christian faith including the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, and the role that God, and Jesus play in their lives and in the lives of Christian communities of faith. In addition students study Luther’s Small Catechism which provides a deep understanding of The Ten Commandments, The Apostle’s Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism, & Holy Communion.
Generally, confirmation begins when the young person enters seventh grade.
On Pentecost Sunday, the students receive the Rite of Confirmation. At this time, they take on the responsibility of fulfilling the promises made by their parents and godparents at their baptism.
It is our hope and prayer that after their confirmation students will continue to give of their time and talents to our church. They are the future of the church.

Faith formation is important for Christians of all ages, including adults. It shapes how we interact with God–and with our families, our communities, our workplaces, and the world. In addition, continued adult study models for the children and youth of the church that one’s faith journey is never complete! Adults at Zion are encouraged to find regular opportunities to learn more, grow more, and reach deep.
